Empowering Fourth-Graders with Energy Education

April 13, 2018

Fourth-graders pictured here were eager participants during interactive energy education school assemblies sponsored by the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA).

MMPA brought a unique educational experience to students in its member communities of Brownton, Buffalo, East Grand Forks, Elk River, and Olivia.  At the educational sessions, representatives from MMPA and the Science Museum of Minnesota taught students about the importance of electricity and how it is generated using a variety of conventional and renewable resources. Through hands-on educational activities, students learned about the impact energy has on their lives and ways to conserve energy at home.

The school assembly is a component of MMPA’s Energy Education Program, which has provided energy education events to over 13,000 Minnesota students. The program integrates into Minnesota’s fourth grade science standards.
