The upper Midwest is known for its large amount of wind energy capacity. Wind energy is always being generated somewhere in the region. However, wind energy generation varies throughout the day and night, with typically more wind energy generated at night. This can be seen in the chart below, which shows the average wind energy production for each hour of the day during 2011.
