The City of Winthrop is located 80 miles west of Minneapolis. Winthrop is known for its flourishing agriculture industry, specializing in the production of corn and soybeans. It is home to Heartland Corn Products, a farmer-owned cooperative that has become one of the state's leaders in renewable ethanol production. Winthrop is also home to JB Lures, one of the largest fishing lure manufacturers. In 1992, Winthrop and seven other cities joined together to form MMPA.
